Being a socialist, I really feel like I need to start a rolling series here focused on what socialism isn’t. Because a lot of things are accused of being socialism in today’s politics, as socialism has become to primary bogeyman on the right. And its clear that many conservatives don’t have an idea of what socialism really is. So I feel I can play a small part in teaching, by knocking down the things they claim are socialism that aren’t actually socialism.

I feel like maybe I owe it to the ghosts of Marx and Kautsky and Atlee and Olaf Palme, just to name a few of the revered elders of European-style social democracy.

So, for today, here’s the first one:

Critical race theory is not socialism.
